The Rattles Giveaway

Hi Amy here. Do you get tired of listening to children’s music that sounds like you recorded it in your bedroom using a cheap keyboard? It drives my husband crazy…especially when we are driving to see family for 9 hours in the car! Perhaps you would rather be listening to the radio but don’t want your child repeating EVERYTHING he or she might hear. Well, the answer to your problems is here! They are The Rattles, an eclectic group of furry musicians from the swamps of Central Jersey. Their debut album, Rattle On, is set for release September 25th and contains a sound reminiscent of classic rock with a touch of power pop! It actually reminds me of The Beatles and The Monkees. They also have some great, fun lyrics with underlying themes of sharing and friendship! You can meet the band: Gus, Kitty, Hal, and Sal along with their manager, Benny, and their groupies (all named Elvis) on their website. You can also listen to their mp3 of Wavy Lane. This cd will definitely be going with us on our next car trip!

Now you can enter to win a copy of The Rattles debut album, Rattle On! One lucky winner will be chosen….it just might be you!

Little Tikes Spray & Rescue Fire Truck giveaway!

Hi, Lisa here with my first Fun in the Sun giveaway!  Amy has been focusing on the sun safety products, and I have been trying to find great products you can enjoy outside with your little ones (while practicing sun safety!).  Little Tikes has been making kids toys since 1970 and just celebrated their 40th anniversary this year!  They are committed to making safe, quality, durable fun toys that encourage discovery and learning, and they urge kids to play outdoors and “Get up and grow!”

I was so excited when Little Tikes offered to sponsor a giveaway on our blog!  I had been looking forward to Davey getting to the age to have ride on toys, especially Little Tikes ride on toys because I remember how durable and safe they are since my younger brother had them when he was little.  Actually, up until recently my mom still had his Little Tikes classic pick up truck from about 13 years ago and it was still in good condition!

Little Tikes sent Davey a Spray & Rescue Fire Truck to try out and I have to say it quickly became his favorite toy!  As you know, I’ve had a lot of family stuff going on lately, so it was actually quite some time before we even took it outside and put water in it, but Davey climbed in and rode it around the house all the time!  It was the first toy he’d go to when he got up in the morning and after naps.  We finally did take it outside not too long ago, and he loves playing in the water and climbing on it outside, though it is a little hard for him to push in the grass outside, as he is on the lower end of the recommended age range (1 1/2 to 5 years).  I love that this is a toy he can grow with and play with for a few more years!

The Spray & Rescue Fire Truck was fairly easy to assemble, though trying to put it together while Davey was awake made it a little more difficult!  It has a pressurized water tank and hose that really squirts water!  The water tank is easily removable which makes it easy to fill up, and it holds up to 2 gallons of water.  Davey was able to move the pump up and down, but of course he did not understand that was what makes the water come out.  It definitely would be easier for a slightly older child to play with on their own though.  There is a button on the end of the water hose to make it spray, which Davey could do himself, but he preferred to have me spray him than to play with the hose himself!

The Spray & Rescue Fire Truck is very sturdy and durable.  Davey climbs in and out of it, even head first over the side that doesn’t have a door, and he has not even come close to flipping it over!  It rolls easily on smooth surfaces, but not so easily that your little one will have it roll out from under them.  It is definitely of the high quality you would expect from Little Tikes!

Little Tikes has offered to send one of our lucky readers their own Spray & Rescue Fire Truck!

Playskool Princess Sweet Potato Giveaway

Hi! Amy here again. Let me just say very quickly that I am very appreciative to Lisa and to Playskool for the time they have given me on this review/giveaway! In the last couple weeks, I have been down with: Roto Virus, a UTI, a weird pregnancy related joint problem with my thumb, a pre-melanoma spot on my back, and general late pregnancy discomfort! I am very happy to be back with this awesome giveaway!!! When Jessica was 18 months old, she all of the sudden lost interest in any and all baby toys. It was a very trying time because I had to be her playmate 24/7 until…she met Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head! Typically, these toys are not recommended below 2 years of age, but with close supervision we found them to be the perfect toy for Jessica! Our neighbor’s daughter down the street is just about to turn 2 years old and has also recently started to really enjoy playing with Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. These toys can also teach your child a lot about body parts (as you can see in the picture below)…

There are many different sets and accessory packs. The one Playskool sent us to review for this giveaway was the Princess Sweet Potato! If you are the mother of a daughter and find the image of how a woman “should” look as portrayed by many toys on the market today at all concerning, then look no longer!! Princess Sweet Potato is the perfect way to give your toddler a princess toy without all of the extra baggage! Princess Sweet Potato has a typical “potato” shape with a little bit of glam and everything a spud girl needs to be a “real” princess from a crown and heels right down to a frog to kiss!

As far as quality is concerned, Princess Sweet Potato is everything you have come to expect from Playskool and their Potato Head line! It is the type of toy that will remain a classic! Your children will love it, and it is made with the kind of quality that your grandchildren will also enjoy playing with it! It also assists your child with developing fine motor skills, learning body parts, creativity, the beginnings of imaginative play, symmetry, and many other important toddler skills that are just beginning to bud!

You can find Playskool on Twitter @Playskool and on Facebook!

Playskool has generously offered to give one of our lucky random followers a Princess Sweet Potato!

Playskool Walk 'n Ride giveaway!

I was recently sent a Playskool Step Start Walk ‘n Ride toy for Davey to try out!  It took him a couple of weeks to figure out walking with it, but right from the start he loved playing with the spinning parts on it, especially the spinning rattle at the top!  It also has a compartment to put things in, and Davey LOVES opening and closing things!  He just started actually walking with it, and I’m trying to help him figure out how to ride on it.

When I got the Step Start Walk ‘n Ride toy, it was very easy to assemble, the instructions were very clear.  It is simple to switch from the walking position to the riding position, with just a little button to pull on and slide to the position you need, and it locks in place firmly, but is too hard for baby’s hands to do!  It seems to be a durable toy and is  very stable.  Davey has been pulling up on it from the start and it has not turned over once!  Also it does not roll too fast or get away from him and I have wood floors!

I have really liked the few Playskool toys we have, and I have to say this is one of the best!  It is something that Davey will not outgrow quickly, as the recommended ages for it are 9-36 months.  Davey is just learning to walk – he has only taken a few steps at a time, but I think now that he is walking with his Step Start Walk ‘n Ride it will speed up his learning to walk on his own!  This is a wonderful toy for babies just starting to pull up or take steps and will be a great first ride-on toy!
